- LAM - Network Parallel Computing - a programming environment and development system for a message-passing parallel machine constituted with heterogeneous UNIX computers on a network. With LAM, a dedicated cluster or an existing network computing infrastructure can act as one parallel computer solving one compute-intensive problem.

- National Consortium for High Performance Computing - Beginning 1993 the National Consortium assembled major components of the industrial, defense, and academic sectors to work with it to extend its early successes in scalable computing to the building of a balanced pilot NII activity. The Consortium is carrying this project out on an unprecedented national-scale, involving virtually every leading edge U.S. supercomputer, networking, storage, and desktop computer manufacturer.
- National MetaCenter Home Page - The National MetaCenter for Computational Science and Engineering is a cooperative effort between the National Science Foundation funded supercomputing centers to offer diverse high performance and scalable parallel architectures for scientists and researchers to attack Grand Challenge problems.

- The Parallel Tools Consortium - The Parallel Tools Consortium, established in November, 1993, brings together representatives from the federal, industrial, and academic sectors to address these issues. Our mission is to take a leadership role in defining, developing, and promoting parallel tools that meet the specific requirements of users who develop scalable applications on a variety of platforms.
- TOP500 Report - To provide a better basis for statistics on high-performance computers, we list the sites that have the 500 most powerful computer systems installed.
