• Center for Assessment and Demographic Studies - CADS mission is to conduct large-scale studies of the deaf and hard- of-hearing population of the United States that yield timely descriptions of relevant characteristics of this population that will serve specific action-oriented goals. These studies include surveys of deaf and hard of hearing people regarding their demographic, school, work, and home characteristics, secondary analyses of extant federal data bases such as those compiled by the Bureau of Labor and the National Center for Health Statistics, and the development of assessment devices that have validity and reliability with this population. Consumers of our research are, primarily, concerned with educational or public policy, and our statistical reports are widely perceived as being crucial to effective policy-making.
