For anyone who cares, here is
what yahoo really means.
<--! Removed by Correct v2.0 by Kutsal Berberoglu -->
and
Jerry Yang, self-proclaimed yahoos.
We primarily target the hotlist towards HTML documents, however we do
include other URLs when they are useful.
Current capabilities of Yahoo
include:
Menubar:
- Move Up in the hierarchy: You
can do so using the menu bar on top/bottom of the page, or click on the text
of the heading.
- Go to the Top level of hierarchy: You can do so by
clicking "Top" on the manu bars at top and bottom of page.
heading.
- Search: You can now
search Yahoo by setting buttons using forms. The search can be restricted
to titles, URLs, and comments, as well as case
(in)sensitivity and perl/string expressions.
The search results are returned along with their locations in the hotlist hierarchy.
- Add: You can add to the hierarchical
hotlist at any point of the hierarchy by clicking on Add on the menu bar.
We will validate the URL that is suggested, and incorporate the suggestion into
the hotlist.
- Mail: You can comment to Yahoo authors through this form interface. If you do not have forms, please send us email at yahoo@akebono.stanford.edu.
Features
- What's New: You can see
what we added in the last five days, along with what part of the
hierarchy they reside. We also supply interface to find out what we added as
far back as May, 1994.
- What's Popular:
We list the top 50 most popular categories and files from the
last week, along with number of times they are accessed.
- What's Cool:
On this page, we try to present the entries that we think are
cool.
- Statistics:
We list in graph form the entries growth, daily access, and
weekly access graphs. Note that for the access graphs, the number
of accesses indicate the number of files transfered, including gifs.
- Random Link: a script
provided by Ed Kubatis which picks a random link from the Yahoo
database - give it a click and see where it takes you!
Legend:
- We are starting a new rating system...
Sites with
images are
ones we think have good presentation/content for their respective topic area.
Usually, you should check these sites first. For example, see
the
Stocks page.
- A
indicates that the entry was
added within the last three days.
If it appears next to a directory, then it means that entries in
directory hierarchy has been modified in the last three days.
