12. How to Perform a Search with Truncated Words


freeWAIS-sf and SFgate support queries with truncated terms only on the right side of a word like in the following LIVE example.


Truncated words are also useful to search for possessive case words, i.e words containing apostrophes. For a more detailed description of this ubject see the chapter: How to Perform a Search of Words Containing Apostrophes.
In the LIVE example below if you search for "Alzheimer" you don't find anything because it is always referred as Alzheimer's disease. So if you want to find all the occurrence of "Alzheimeir" a good choice is to search for Alzheim*.
