18. How SFgate Sends Back Documents Matching a Query

Depending on the "fine tuning" of a query, SFgate sends back the document(s) matching the query in different ways.

A. WITH HEADLINES

If the questions:

  1. Skip headline menu? YES NO
If you check the default value NO, you will get an headline menu of records matching your query instead of a single document containing all the information concerning records matching your query.

  2. Multiple choice headline menu? YES NO
If you check YES (the default), and the previous choice was NO you will get an headline menu of the records matching your query. Each item has a checkbox in front of it. In this way you can choose multiple records. Otherwise you have to select single headlines to see records one by one.

are left with the defaults, the answer that SFgate sends back is like this:

In this case a list of headlines, one for each document matching the query, is reported.
Each headline is prefixed by an increasing number and by a checkbox.

One can click on a headline to retrieve the full document or click on more
than a checkbox in order to retrieve two or more full documents.
In the example below:
  1. The first document was chosen

  2. Clicking with the mouse on "fetch documents" button starts documents retrieval, while clicking on "new choice" cancel checkboxes already selected

If the answer to the "fine tuning" question # 3 changes from the default YES to NO, no checkbox appears near to documents.
In this case one can retrieve documents only once a time by clicking on their headlines.

B. WITHOUT HEADLINES

If the answer to the "fine tuning" question # 2 changes from the default NO to YES, documents matching the query are immediately retrieved in extenso.
