This directory contains all of the training modules found in "The Basics"
training category of the 15 Minute Series.

The modules found in "The Basics" training category describe the
fundamental protocols, premises, and components of the Internet and the
networking community, and are intended as an introduction to the Internet
for new users. The topics covered include, but are not limited to, basic
descriptions of TCP/IP; the Domain Name System, IP addresses, remote login,
file transfer, electronic mail and discussion lists, network news, gopher,
WAIS, the web, and cultural aspects such as netiquette and freenets. Each
of the Basics training modules have been developed with a specific,
introductory-level question in mind, which they attempt to answer as
substantively as possible in a clear and concise manner.

Each of "The Basics" modules are available as compressed PowerPoint files
which can be downloaded via anonymous ftp.

The basics directory also contains a "table-of-contents.txt" file,
which describes each PowerPoint module that is available in "The
Basics" category.  The "readme.txt" file also provides the overview of
"The Basics" category presented above.

email/ Directory

This directory contains all of the training modules found in the "Electronic 
Mail" training category of the 15 Minute Series.

The "Electronic Mail" training modules address topics and technology that 
relate to electronic mail and its uses.  These topics include, but are not 
limited to, different mail programs, mailing lists, Multi-purpose Internet 
Mail Extensions (MIME), etc. Each of the training modules have been 
developed with a specific question in mind on the subject of email, which 
they attempt to answer as substantively as possible in a clear and concise 
manner. 

Each of the "Electronic Mail" modules are available as compressed 
PowerPoint files which can be downloaded via anonymous ftp.

The email directory also contains a "table-of-contents.txt" file,
which describes each PowerPoint module that is available in the 
"Electronic Mail" category.  The "readme.txt" file also provides the 
overview of the "Electronic Mail" category presented above.

index-search/ Directory

This directory contains all of the training modules found in the "Indexing 
and Search Services" training category of the 15 Minute Series.

The "Indexing and Search Services" training modules address topics and 
technology that relate to cataloging, indexing, and search and retrieval 
mechanisms for information available via Internet. These topics include, 
but are not limited to, directories, virtual libraries, robots and other 
web-based search engines, identification tools such as finger and Netfind, 
etc. Each of the training modules have been developed with a specific 
question in mind on the subject of finding information on the Internet, 
in response they attempt to describe the resources and technology 
identified in the question as substantively as possible in a clear and 
concise manner.

Each of the "Indexing and Search Services" modules are available 
as compressed PowerPoint files which can be downloaded via 
anonymous ftp.

The index-search directory also contains a "table-of-contents.txt" file,
which describes each PowerPoint module that is available in the 
"Indexing and Search Services" category.  The "readme.txt" file also 
provides the overview of the "Indexing and Search Services" category 
presented above.

technology/ Directory

This directory contains all of the training modules found in the "Technology" 
training category of the 15 Minute Series.

The "Technology" training modules describe the technology on which the 
Internet is built and the standards that define and shape that technology. 
The topics covered include, but are not limited to, local and wide area 
networks; hardware and software definition; client/server architecture; 
operating systems, standards and related organizations, and documents 
such as RFCs and FYIs. Each of the Technology training modules have 
been developed in answer to a specific technology-related question, which 
they attempt to answer as substantively as possible in a clear and concise 
manner.

Each of the "Technology" modules are available as compressed 
PowerPoint files which can be downloaded via anonymous ftp.

The technology directory also contains a "table-of-contents.txt" file,
which describes each PowerPoint module that is available in the 
"Technology" category.  The "readme.txt" file also provides the 
overview of the "Technology" category presented above.

templates/ Directory

This directory contains a PowerPoint file to be used as a template for
the purpose of extending a PowerPoint training module to meet an
individual trainer's needs or to create a new training module.

This directory contains all of the training modules found in the "World 
Wide Web" training category of the 15 Minute Series.

The "World Wide Web" training modules address topics and technology 
that specifically relate to the web environment. These topics include, but 
are not limited to, HTTP, HTML, SGML, browsers, crawlers, style guides, 
image maps, forms, CGI, JAVA, etc. Each of the training modules have 
been developed with a specific web-related question in mind, which they 
attempt to answer as substantively as possible in a clear and concise manner.

Each of the "World Wide Web" modules are available as compressed 
PowerPoint files which can be downloaded via anonymous ftp.

The www directory also contains a "table-of-contents.txt" file,
which describes each PowerPoint module that is available in the 
"World Wide Web" category.  The "readme.txt" file also provides the 
overview of the "World Wide Web" category presented above.
